I was working on the META tags for my website, and came across some helpful information (I thought it was helpful, anyway) for selecting your keywords.
1. Only use keywords that are actually part of your website's purpose. (This one should be fairly obvious, but...)
2. Think like a searcher; try to determine what terms they would be looking for (this is easier if you do a lot of searching yourself) and use those.
3. Don't overload your META tag with keywords. Pick the ones most relevant to your site, and use those.
4. Use roots; 'art' instead of 'artist'; 'wood' instead of 'wooden', and so forth.
