I am so confused. Is the Apprentice an Affiliate of NBC? Is The Amazing Race and the Price is Right Affiliates of CBS?

I know that affiliates to networks include local tv stations like our local news stations using networks like ABC,CBS, and NBC. What else are affiliates of networks? My textbook is retarded!

thank you :)

Affiliates are the individual stations, like the one you watch.

OK, there's Ford (the car maker), but they don't actually sell the cars right out of the factory, so people build dealerships and then agree with Ford to sell Ford cars and trucks, and to have mechanics who work on them and so on. These independently owned dealerships are like the "affiliates" of the Ford "network".

So ABC is headquartered in New York and produces programming, but they don't own all the TV stations across the country. To the TV station owners agree with ABC to show ABC programming (plus their local news).

The programs are not affiliates; they are programs which ABC bought the rights to broadcast.
