Here's a way that's been around for a long time. Write and article about the topic of your webpage. Like if you webpage is about losing weight, write an article about lossing weight and add your link in the resource box. Make sure you use keywords so that people will see your article from a search engine.

and make sure that the spelling and grammar are correct - nothing worse than seeing misspelt words and bad sentences when you're trying to look like a professional!

Um, Nogard? "Grammar" is spelled with an "ar" not "er". Just FYI. ;)

Oops!

Universal rule of the spelling/grammar nitpick: He who picks a nit shall soon be seen to bear his own nits. Hee hee hee...

[Scanning this post for spelling/grammar mistakes of my own....]

LOL. Yeah. I've found some doozies of my own from time to time and I always feel like the world's biggest idiot when I do. I left the c out of "excerpt" on my webpage one time. *sigh*

There are some real doozies that bug me to no end... those pet peeves. Starting with the *horrid* percentage of "writers" who don't know the difference between "you're" and "your" and .... hehe well okay, I probably shouldn't start a list. :)

I have noticed that most writers are more concerned on creative writing than grammar and perhaps spelling. The essayists are those who are very much concerened of grammar, spelling, etc. Even non-writers are expected to write correct grammar/spelling, how much more if we're not?

You know the one that really gets me? Its versus it's. I see those two used incorrectly not only on fora and other online articles, but in face-to-face reality too. The worst is when you see them misused by editors, publishers, and writing workshop leaders. The sort of writing workshop where you submit fiction in hopes of getting accepted and then you pay several hundred dollars tuition.

It makes one despair.

Here's a good one to link to, to chastise the apostrophe abusers of the world:

Bob the Angry Flower:
Bob's Quick Guide to the Apostrophe, You Idiots (http://www.angryflower.com/bobsqu.gif)

It's... *sniff* ...heartwarming.

:) I'll have to check out that article! Yes, this is another one that's often not used correctly. I catch myself sometimes typing the wrong word because I'm more used to typing the other, but if it is done repeatedly, it's not a typo.

But that "your" and "you're"... that one can really get me going. I do believe I see it used incorrectly more often than correctly! "Your welcome" "Your brave" "Your cute" I want SO much to point it out but I haven't yet. But *someday* I'm going to be in a bad mood. :p
