Is this the proper place to discuss? I'm not entirely sure what "keyword density" is, but I know that a lot of the markets for content writing are very concerned with it. My understanding is, it's the art of working certain keywords into an article such that the article is search-engine optimized. Can anyone refine my understanding of this concept, and maybe point me towards some tutorials or informative articles about the phenomenon?

My understanding of it is that you need a certain repetition of your key words, but not to the point of making your page incomprehensible. Say you're selling widgets on your page, and you specialize in chrome widgets. So in your keywords, you'll have "widgets" and "chrome" and "sale". Then in your page itself, you might have the header "Chrome Widgets for Sale", and then an article about chrome widgets and the sale price, then further down the page, maybe a list of your widgets, chrome and otherwise and the sale information.
Just don't overdo it. If I come across a good article, I'll point you at it. :)

Thanks, I appreciate it. So, when people talk about percentages of keyword density, is that per word? Would a five percent keyword density mean that 5 out of every 100 words is a keyword?

That's a really good question and your suggestion seems that it would make sense. I'm going to have to do a little digging on this to find out for sure.

I also think that keyword density would mean that you repeat certain keywords many times (if possible) so that the spider crawlers can see them and your site will be easily searchable if your keywords are being looked upon.
Any progress so far QL to confirm our interpretation of keyword density?

I've enjoyed reading this thread. I've been wanting to find out more about
SEO and how to get more visitors to the website and this was a good place
to start my research on that.

As far as I know, there are also keywords which are popular at a certain time. So, one can actually refer to them (guess there are sites that you can google) and use them in your site, whichever word is related to your product/services. So when you have them, try to insert these words many times in your blog or in your site but when you do it, it should also make sense otherwise the spiders won't index them.
