host and vista client using a cross over cable? its a vista laptop and xp desktop i'm trying to connect using a cross over cable.

you need to use ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) in order to share your connection in a simple way. just right click on your connection and then select share...

Crossover cables are not the correct cable to connect two computers to share internet, you need a normal cat5 or cat6. Crossover cable is for transferring data from one to the other.
