Getting Traffic

I have learned few ways to get traffic to your site. Among them are advertising by puttiing your link on articles related to your site, joining forums and put your site in the signature.

Any other ideas to get more traffic?

Link exchange is also a good trick.

Submitting your site to major directories and search engines is a must to get good traffic.

I never completeley understood what traffic was. I always thought it was just something that attracted "visitors and attention" can someone give me a simple definition? Maybe geline?

The way I understand traffic is that it is the number of visitors that click/drop by your site to take a look at your site with the chance of sales for your products... am I right, kartik? (JT, I know you know that! :) )

Traffic simply said is number of visitors you get per day /pm/ pa .

IIRC traffic is the single most important factor that makes your site better than the rest.

IIRC = If I recollect correctly .. Its a short form, you use in companies .. mostly in top management emails .

Being a management proffessional, I have got a habit of using it everywhere.

If possible, offering some kind of free contest will attract a number of curious people to a site

you can also run a newsletter through email that will keep visitors updated of improvements to your site and encourage them to return.

Link exchange is a good way like Kartik stated. I also like joining forums and putting the link in my signature. I also use MySpace to get my web page out there.
