Linux/ Unix is an operating system. Windows Vista, Xp, ME, 2000, 98, 95, etc. are operating systems. Unix is strictly freeware and is primarily used in California. Linux in some cases is freeware i recently downloaded a free ware version that runs on CD called Knop Pix which is great for recovering files, however compatability issues may be faced. Good luck.

Do you mean LINUX?? well Linux is not exactly a program Linux is an entire operating system just as MacOS or Windows, so its an entire platform where you can run Programs or applications the thing that makes it interesting is the fact that you can modify the code so you can write code to add functions that you may need and also is for free.
