Affiliate Marketing and search?

So are there any other merchant companies out there with affiliate programmes that allow their affiliates to drive sales or traffic via PPC.

If so what has worked well or what things do you advise avoiding?
I meant do people have views on how from a merchants perspective this can work and what is best practice. How does it contribute to your overall marketing practice, what are the risks? DO peopls see cannibalisation of traffic and sales?
