you can repair images in different ways, like get rid of dust scratches, play with the different levels for brightness/color/ etc you can use various effects, filters and perhaps get rid of red eye in photos, or make a pretty lens flare. you can make layers, like if you want to add an image to a background, this is very easy and it's simple to switch from each layer for editing. the Magnetic lasso can cut out a part of an image perfectly which can be very useful. there are lots of fun stuff you can do.
