...(.COM) what steps do you take to transfer the name over successfully?

after u've received the money, just gave the username and passwd. make sure yr cc no. is not saved in that account and that's it!

1. First you need to agree on the payment method to be used. Will you be using Paypal, credit card, cash or Western Union? If you do not know the person, it is better to wait for the payment before proceeding.

2. Find out if your domain registrar allows you to 'push' your domain to another member. If it is allowed then follow the push procedure of your domain registrar.

If you can not find a push transaction then look for 'Transfer' transaction and follow also the procedure stated as it may differ from one domain registrar to another..

If the buyer is not yet a registered member then let him create an account first before pushing or transferring the domain to the buyer's account.

3. Before the transfer, change the WHOIS info to that of your buyer. This is to safeguard your own information from being misused.

4. Keep records of your communication and transaction in case dispute arises.
