How Do I Remove GIF Animation From My Desktop?

My daughter loaded a couple of GIF animations onto my computer and they are constantly on my desktop and I cannot remove them. I think that they are somehow hooked up with my internet browser. I use DSL, so I am always connected and the images are always there. Please tell me how to get them off my computer completely.

Go to that specific Icon, do a right click and then click on "delete." That should get rid of the gif.
