Here's a few book s that's good for beginners. It's not a big list, in fact it's only two books. But they are good books. Add what you like.

1.HTML 4 for Dummies
2.Sams-Teach Yourself HTML and CSS in 24 Hours

Is it a book? Then, it must cost something. How much are these books? Where to buy?

You can get any books from the Library. If you don't have a library, you can find these books at Amazon or Barnes&Noble.com.

A friend of mine once recommended a book on HTML to me whose subtitle was something like 'Clever HTML coding for tech-stupid people"...that may not be exactly it, but it was something like that. But I can't remember the title. Does anyone have any idea what book it might have been? (There are so many out there!!) I'm pretty sure it wasn't the '4 Dummies' book, but I guess it might have been...

does the Dummies book update every year to a new version, or would it be safe to get an used copy?

It has updated every year, but I think the updates are just to make you buy a new one. LOL... You can get a used one and still learn from it. Mine is the latest version but I got it as a gift.

ah... so it's not really an upgrade, just another printing of the same version - good to know - thanks!
