View Full Version : How do you get a background on your desktop icons?

You know when you click on them how they get that blue background? How do you get like a background on them before you click them so you can see the text better?

START -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System (Performance and Maintenance) -> Advanced Tab -> Performance Pane is a button called Settings. Tab to Visual Effects, and in the custom window UN-check the "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop". It is the second from the bottom.

For best performance of your display do the following:
a) Save your current theme.
b) Go to this same custom visual settings area and only check the second from the bottom and "Show windows contents when dragging". All other checks should be cleared.
c) After closing this window you will notice the Classic Windows style. Reload the saved theme and you are good to go.
