Photoshop 5.5 users: Can you open PNG files?

When I try to open a PNG file, Photoshop locks up, and I have to use task manager to kill it, then open it up again. Are PNGs not supported by this version of Photoshop?

Sorry, not PS 5.5

Try the shareware utility called "Graphic Converter"
google it and download. It works on pre-osX macs!
