I have a G4 Mac and when i bought the computer I also bought Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1 at the same time. It has worked fine since I bought it. But recently I installed an update for OS X to go up to 10.4. I tried today to open Photoshop and all it will do is start to upload, then a update screen opens a couple of seconds later saying that Photoshop is installing an update from Adobe.com.

Then it freezes and will not respond. All of my other Adobe programs (illustrator, Premier and After Affect) are also doing the exact same thing. Do I need to reinstall all of the programs? If so, should I delete the others first? If I do delete the other programs first will I lose all of the files that have been created in those programs? Or if I wait and install them again, will the files transfer right into the reinstalled program? Sorry so many questions, I have not had to do this before. Thanks for any help.

You have to locate on your MAC the adobe updater program and configure it. If this doesn't work, then you'll have to roll-back to your previous version of OS X

I think your best bet is like you said: reinstall the programs. I had some similar problems but it was with photo. CS and switching computers from mac G4 to tower (I actually had to upgrade to CS3). i don't know if you can uninstall photo 7. (if it has a specific action unto the install disk) if so, yes do uninstall it along with any other programs you have problems with. then reinstall all your software. you should not loose your old files by doing this. They will transfer. You might be asked for "permissions" like your computer password or have to re-enter the Serial # for the program. otherwise, they will transfer easy at the exception of missing fonts. but the program will translate your old fonts into new ones that are very similar. good luck

Adobe and Macromedia software require reactivation on OS upgrades. You can call the activation desk for assistance

If you would much rather uninstall and reinstall, you can just place the CD Rom in your G4 and install over the current version. It will not affect your created files.
